Living Lab

We are a Living Lab

The Afurada territory is a Living Lab, an innovative area for the development of technological solutions in a real context, based on a collaborative model and on the strong engagement of the local community.

The Afurada Living Lab project responds to multiple challenges related to the decarbonization of cities, such as sustainable urban mobility, building energy efficiency and the transition to a circular economy.

For three years, different actions and activities will be developed and implemented in a real context, with the active involvement of local community in the co-creation, experimentation and validation of the proposed solutions.

The Afurada Living Lab consists of a strategic and technological partnership coordinated by CEDES Association. It includes several public entities, such as the Municipality of Vila Nova de Gaia, GAIURB, the Norwegian University of Science and Technology of Trondheim, and private entities specialized in technology and innovative urban solutions, such as DST Solar, Innovation Point, Watt is, Ubiwhere and CEiiA.

The project has an overall investment of € 1,084,301. It is funded by the Programme “Environment, Climate Change and Low Carbon Economy” of EEA Grants.
