The Municipal Company of Urbanism and Housing GAIURB, member of the technological partnership of the Afurada Living Lab, participated in the event “Energy Transition: The role of local energy communities and the models of local energy ownership”, in the panel “Case Studies”.

Organised by CONGREGATE Project and supported by the European Climate Initiative (EUKI), the seminar aimed to:
• To promote interest in the renovation of buildings and the impact this process has on residents’ lives (in terms of energy and financial savings);
• Establish good behavioural parameters and energy literacy attitudes;
• Boosting the creation of energy cooperatives by promoting case studies in Bulgaria, Greece and the Czech Republic (three cases in each country).

GAIURB’s intervention aimed to present the Renewable Energy Community (REC), the Afurada Living Lab as an innovative solution in the transition to a low carbon economy, mainly in local projects and collaborative model that is an example of this project taking place in the Afurada territory until 2024.

The Afurada Living Lab is a project financed by the EEAGrants “Environment, Climate Change and Low Carbon Economy” Programme.
