Afurada Living Lab was present at the conference “Co-creation of energy communities in Portugal
This event, organised by Energaia, Energy Cities and Coopérnico CRL, aimed to present and share the experience of municipalities and communities that are taking the first steps in the area of energy transition.
The Afurada Living Lab project was present at the conference “Co-creation of Energy Communities in Portugal – the role of local authorities” on 17th November at the Hilton Hotel in Vila Nova de Gaia.
The Municipal Company of Urbanism and Housing GAIURB, member of the technological partnership of Afurada Living Lab, presented the Afurada Living Lab in the panel “From concept to action: Development of energy communities in Portugal”, having demonstrated its importance to affirm the territory of Afurada as a space of innovation and development of innovative solutions that, through a collaborative model and co-creation with the local community, aims at the transition to a low carbon economy.
An interactive workshop was also held to understand the motivations of municipalities in creating energy communities.
The session also included the participation of the Secretary of State for Energy, who addressed the legislative framework of the Energy Communities and the possible support mechanisms foreseen for the development of these communities.

Its consortium will implement, over a period of 3 years, different actions and activities focused on the thematic areas of “Sustainable Urban Mobility”, “Circular Economy and Environment” and “Buildings and Energy”.
